We collect information when you make a donation, send us an email, fill out a form, respond to a survey, register for and/or attend an event, or otherwise communicate with us. We created this Privacy Policy to cover privacy practices and donations collected both online and offline, explain why we collect particular donor information, and how we will protect your personal privacy within our website. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE THAT INFORMATION
We collect two types of information: standard web server traffic pattern information and information collected through our online and offline donation forms. Standard web server traffic pattern information is comprised of general traffic, site usage, and length of stay information which is collected and stored in log files. This type of information is used to analyze and improve site content and navigation only and is not shared externally.
Staff members at SIGN who are directly involved with communication, accounting, fundraising, and/or website administration collect information on the website. The legal justification for processing your data is to complete donation/purchase transactions. SIGN employs companies to assist us with such functions as hosting our donor information database, websites, sending e-mail, and processing online and mail donations and credit card payments. These companies have access to personal donor information only as needed to perform their functions.
Our donation forms require donors to give us contact information that may include name, email address, mailing address, telephone numbers, credit card information, and similar identifying information. We use this information to contact you should there be a question about your donation and to send tax-deductible receipts. We also use this information to personalize communications to you to keep you informed about our programs and progress. Information you provide about another individual in the course of making a donation in honor of or in memory of someone will only be used for that purpose. We retain donor information as long as appropriate and/or reasonable to complete the purpose for which it was gathered. SIGN does NOT share, rent, or sell names of donors nor store sensitive information, such as credit card or social security numbers, from our donors. SIGN does NOT transfer your data to any third parties other than the entities used to process donations.
VOLUNTEER/EMPLOYMENT
All information gathered related to employment or volunteering is strictly private and will be viewed only by authorized SIGN employees. No information submitted will be used for any purpose other than to assess your qualifications as an employee or volunteer for SIGN.
OTHER DISCLOSURES
Please be advised that we may disclose your personal donor information to the government or to third parties pursuant to law enforcement inquiries, court orders, subpoenas, and similar requests or when we otherwise believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary or appropriate in connection with any activity that violates the law or may expose us to liability.
INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS
We collect an IP address from all visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer’s router when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your donor information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

SIGN welcomes children to learn more about our organization and about the humanitarian and medical issues presented on the SIGN site. We are particularly respectful of the privacy of our young users.
